Nile Evans

In today’s Balancing Act Q & A we a quick look at how Nile Evans writer, executive producer, filmmaker, film writer, and showrunner, stays balanced, focused, and productive. A talented writer and comedian, Evans has been credited with helping MTW’s Wild N’ Out reach its fame as its Executive Producer and Showrunner before it was recently cancelled. The busy father and huband shares how family, fitness, good food, and a couple of guilty pleasures keep his mind right and focused in the midst of writing, producing and entrepreneurship.

What do you attribute to building a notable career in the entertainment industry?

I got to where I am from hard work, just being persistent, and not having a plan B.

What does life balance look like to you?

Wake up, feed the kids, dogs, and head to the office. At the office, I figure out what outstanding writing projects need to be done by the deadline. I make calls, zoom meetings, and jokes with other writers and producers at the office. Then I head back home for dinner, chat with the fam, and head to bed if I don’t have any more writing to do.

What do you do to stay active?

Every other day I wake up and either take a 4-5 mile walk or get on the Soulcycle bike.

What kind of diet do you stick with if you have one?

I like to snack even though I shouldn’t. I love jalapeño chips. I only drink coffee if I have to write, and Redbull gives me nightmares.

What is your guide to managing stress?

I am a Certified Pistol Instructor/RSO and shoot sporting clays with my shotgun. It’s a pricey sport so I’m usually out there alone where I can clear my head and bust some shots.

What do you do on your day off?

On my days off I like to BBQ and chill with my family. I love smoking meat on the grill.

What is your guilty pleasure?

I buy stuff on Amazon...like all day long. I look for stuff to buy, it’s that bad.

What is your mood music?

Mellow R&B. I listen to a lot of “SIR“ nowadays.

What is your advice to those trying to attempt balance?

Find it however you can. Don’t overwhelm yourself with one thing. Take a vacation whenever you can. You need it.
