The Northern Lights

Located in the uppermost and southernmost reaches of our planet, the Northern Lights is truly a sight to behold. Also known as Aurora borealis in the northern hemisphere and Aurora australis in the southern hemisphere the northern and southern light show put on by disturbances in the magnetosphere caused by solar wind, is not a phenomenon you will want to miss out on. This event is most definitely a bucket list item as there is nothing quite like it on earth. On your next trip up north, take a look up into the sky and see if you can catch a glimpse of nature’s natural wonder.

The Taj Mahal

Built in 1632 off the southern bank of the river Yamuna in the Indian city of Agra, the Taj Mahal is an astonishing architectural masterpiece that has to be seen to be fully believed. Constructed as the final resting place of the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan’s favorite wife Mumtaz Mahal, the Taj Mahal is a massive work of art. The ivory-white marble structure encompasses a massive 34,596 square foot area with the center dome reaching 240 feet. Incredible art such as this mausoleum should be seen by the world and seeing it in person is so much better than photos.

Macchu Picchu

Sitting high above the clouds in the Andes Mountains in Peru, above the Urubamba River valley, Macchu Picchu is the Incan Citadel built in the 15th century but abandoned less than a century later, the ‘lost’ city of the Inca is a tourists dream and a place that should be visited by all. With a four-day hike leading up to it, Macchu Picchu is not a trip for the faint of heart. But the journey just like in any situation is just as important as the destination. Not often are most people able to travel through the jungles of Peru and see the culture and landscape firsthand. But the journey is well worth it as once you reach the city set upon the heavens you will fall in love instantly. Take a trip to Macchu Picchu and understand for yourself why so many have too.

Set upon the New York, Ontario border, Niagara Falls is a place often talked about but cannot be fully understood with visiting. Made up of three waterfalls leading water on a journey from Lake Ontario to Lake Erie along the Niagara River, Niagara Falls is a colossal waterfall dumping 3,160 tons of water flows over Niagara Falls every second. Standing 176 feet tall, this is a sight you will have to see to truly believe.

With modern technology, and the ability to travel anywhere in the world not seeing something amazing before you go is almost a choice! We believe there are so. Many amazing places to visit on Earth and this list was just a few of those wonderful places. Check out our other lists in our Bucket List series for more ideas!
